During operation, the outer surface temperature of a water-cooled condenser should be close to room temperature and should not feel hot to the touch. If the surface temperature is found to be too high, the cause should be investigated and measures taken to eliminate this phenomenon.

Generally speaking, the main reason for the increase in condenser temperature is a problem with the cooling water. There are usually four situations:

1) Insufficient cooling water volume and insufficient water pressure. A water-cooled condenser relies on cooling water to remove the latent heat released when the refrigerant vapor condenses. Therefore, if the cooling water pressure is insufficient and the flow rate does not meet the rated requirements, the heat dissipation capacity will be limited, ultimately causing the condenser surface temperature to rise.

2) The cooling water temperature is too high, exceeding the rated operating temperature (usually 32℃). The higher the cooling water temperature, the smaller the cooling temperature difference of the refrigerant, and the smaller the heat transfer amount. The refrigerant cannot be effectively cooled, and the condenser surface temperature will rise.

3) The cooling water quality is too poor, leading to scaling on the inner walls of the cooling water pipes in the condenser, increasing thermal resistance, affecting the heat exchange between the refrigerant and the cooling water, and reducing the heat transfer effect. This fault often occurs in equipment that has been used for a long time without regular cleaning. The solution is to remove the scale.

4) The cooling water inlet and outlet pipes are installed incorrectly. The normal installation position is generally that the inlet pipe is low and the outlet pipe is high, i.e., "low inlet, high outlet". If the inlet pipe is high, the cooling water cannot fully circulate and fill the condenser, the heat transfer area becomes smaller, the refrigerant vapor cannot be effectively condensed, and the condenser surface temperature will rise.

When the condenser surface temperature rises, it indicates that the condensation effect is reduced, and the system's refrigeration capacity will decrease.
